Project Overview

South Ormsby Hall, designed by architect James Paine as his first country house in 1752, undergoes comprehensive restoration to its original Palladian features, including roof pediment reconstruction and internal room revivals based on historic paint analysis. The project encompasses structural repairs, modernisation of systems for sustainability, and revival of 150 acres of parkland with new elements like a boathouse and bird hide. Led by custodians Jon and Jan Thornes, with input from Marcus Beale Architects, the hall will feature heritage apartments, office space, and a private residence, opening select areas to the public for tours and events. This initiative ensures the Grade II* listed property's legacy while blending 18th-century elegance with contemporary efficiency.
